POST CARD
That famous agricultural parallelogram, the
San Joaquin Valley, is entered from the south over
the Tehachapi Mountains.
These and other Mountains that surround this
strip of valley, fifty by two hundred miles in di-
mension, protect it from extremes of temperature,
and give it a climate that has no equal for the pro-
duction of wheat, alfalfa, and fruits.
The heavy grades, the numerous tunnels, and
a complete loop, built in the construction of the
railroad, together with delightful natural features,
make the scenery in the Tehachapi Mountains some
of the most interesting to be found on the trans-
continental journey.
