Description
A large steam locomotive sits on the tracks with a long passenger train stretching into the distance. Smoke rises from the engine against a pale sky, and a man stands near the rails in the foreground. The card presents a crisp railroad scene with bold industrial machinery and open trackside space. undated

Back Text (verbatim):
SOUTHERN PACIFIC MALLET COMPOUND ENGINE. A-34941
This mighty engine is quite different from those used in
any other part of the country, and of great interest to those
who travel, as they are in the service in the High Sierras pull-
ing trains over the summit, the highest point on the Southern
Pacific System.
