Shelby, N.C., as the county seat, is the natural trading center for Cleveland County as well as the surrounding areas. Shopping facilities are numerous and excellent and serve not only this section but, in many cases, all of Western North Carolina. Shelby has two newspapers: one daily and one semi-weekly. Also, several good hotels and motels convenient to the traveler.
