Description

A colorful city view looks down a steep San Francisco street with a cable car in the foreground. Tall downtown buildings rise in the background, including one prominent tower at right. Parked cars line the street and the scene shows an active urban hillside. The card appears to be from the 1950s.

Back Text (verbatim):
SAN FRANCISCO CABLE CAR
Looking down California Street, San Francisco had
its first cable car in 1873, replacing the horse car
used in that period. Creator of the cable railway
was Andrew Hallidie, whose name is perpetuated
by the Hallidie Building on Sutter Street.
