Description

A colorized elevated view shows Rapid City spread across a valley with many buildings, streets, and railroad tracks in the foreground. A large bright red building stands out near the center, with rolling hills and the Black Hills rising behind the town. The scene has a panoramic small-city business district feel with scattered cars and industrial structures visible. The card is dated 1951.

Rapid City is a pioneer western town. It
lies on the western boundary of a rolling
country of farm lands and is the eastern
gateway to the colorful Black Hills.
Very interesting trips to Mt. Rushmore,
Sylvan Lake, Needles Road, Historic Dead-
wood, famous Lead Homestake Gold Mine and
many others can be made from here.
