Description
A colorful vintage streetcar is shown on tracks outdoors, viewed from the front corner. The car is painted red, cream, and yellow, with the number 264 visible on the front and the route sign reading Carey St. Trees and rail lines frame the scene, giving it an open-air museum setting. The card appears to be from the 1960s.

The operation of both open cars in the summer and
closed cars in the winter was not economical, so
United Railways & Electric Co. purchased "con-
vertible" cars from 1900 to 1902. No. 264 is a con-
vertible: in winter the sides are closed, but when
summer heat arrives the windows are removed and
the car is open. Car 264, built by the Brownell Car
Co., survives with nine other Baltimore cars at the
Baltimore Streetcar Museum, just 3 blocks from Penn
Central Station in Downtown Baltimore.
